Specialists explained the main lines of work of participatory governance in Protected Natural Areas, highlighting the role of management committees and interest groups as spaces for coordination and decision-making.<\/p>\n<p>The session also addressed the importance of the Management Committee's annual work plan as a key tool for the continuity of conservation work, and set out the responsibilities of committee members: chair, vice-chair, technical secretary, interest groups and members' assembly. This guidance gave participants greater clarity about their responsibilities and their role within the committee.<\/p>\n<p>SERNANP specialists recalled that, under current regulations, management committees are open to the participation of public and private institutions, grassroots organizations and local residents. Their main functions include proposing policies and plans for the protected area, supporting surveillance and compliance with regulations, taking part in drawing up the master plan, coordinating cross-sector efforts, and promoting funding mechanisms for conservation.
