{"id":179,"date":"2023-11-15T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afronta.org.pe\/2023\/11\/15\/informe-revela-graves-amenazas-contra-defensores-y-defensoras-indigenas\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T17:30:03","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T17:30:03","slug":"informe-revela-graves-amenazas-contra-defensores-y-defensoras-indigenas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afronta.org.pe\/en\/2023\/11\/15\/informe-revela-graves-amenazas-contra-defensores-y-defensoras-indigenas\/","title":{"rendered":"Report reveals serious threats against Indigenous defenders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Regional Organization AIDESEP Ucayali (ORAU) and the Asociaci\u00f3n Fronteras Amaz\u00f3nicas \u2013 AFRONTA presented the Report on the Situation of Indigenous Defenders in Ucayali 2022, a document that lays bare the growing risks faced by Indigenous leaders and communities in defending their territories and forests.<\/p>\n<p>The study shows how illegal activities such as drug trafficking, land trafficking and the opening of roads without planning or prior consultation directly affect the lives of Indigenous peoples and their defenders. Among the most worrying findings, it identified 56 clandestine airstrips linked to drug trafficking and more than 7,400 hectares of forest lost in communal territories.<\/p>\n<p>The report also warns that State measures to protect defenders are insufficient and poorly adapted to the Indigenous context, since many threats are collective and territorial in nature.
